Living and Working in Aiken

Aiken, South Carolina, named the South's Best Small Town in 2018 by Southern Living Magazine, is known for its rich tradition as an equestrian community. Located centrally between the Carolina coast, mountains, and major cities in Georgia and the Carolinas, Aiken is a family-oriented community offering an ideal climate, excellent schools, and safe neighborhoods. Outdoor recreation options, oak tree canopy-lined streets, and a hip and thriving downtown with excellent restaurants, shops, and galleries combine to offer an exceptional quality of life. Aiken also enjoys proximity to Augusta, GA, home of the annual Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club and the Medical College of Georgia, a large academic medical center with an international community.

Easy commutes to high elevations in the Blue Ridge Mountains and low country beach towns like Charleston and Savannah.

Augusta, GA, is about 30 minutes southwest of Aiken, offering more metro amenities. Columbia, SC, is about an hour northwest of Aiken, although many medical staff live in West Columbia suburbs, like Lexington, SC, which is an excellent community with a strong school system (45-minute commute to Aiken).
