Critical Care Per Diem - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

About the role

The successful candidate will provide holistic, high quality care to critically ill patients admitted to the critical care unit. With your comprehensive knowledge of acute critical care conditions, diagnostics & treatments, you will be expected to diagnose, treat, and manage acute & chronic diseases, perform procedures, order and interpret diagnostic tests, speak to patients & families about their conditions, and collaborate with a variety of consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
  • In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to physician.

Requirements

  • Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience: 1+ years as an advanced practice provider in a critical care setting. Neurocritical care experience highly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Pass the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner certification exam.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the State of Connecticut.
  • At least 1 year of experience as an advanced practice provider in a critical care setting.
  • Neurocritical care experience is highly preferred.
