About the role
The ICU PA/NP (provider) supports Highland Hospital's ICU by covering Day or Night shifts as needed.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage intensive care unit patients under the supervision of the critical care team.
- Report to the ICU Medical Director for clinical and administrative issues.
- Consult with the Chief of Medicine for broader administrative issues.
- Work closely with the attending critical care physician for specific patient-related problems.
- Inform the attending of record of any significant changes in a patient's clinical status.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved PA or NP program and nationally certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners.
- Two to five years of in-patient or ICU/critical care PA/NP experience.
- Demonstrated autonomy and competency in managing critically ill patients.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to independently perform some invasive procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in coordinating clinical services for acutely ill patients.
Qualifications
- American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification.
- Stroke Certification required within one year of hire.
Skills
- Proficiency in central venous and arterial access.
- Management and resuscitation of unstable patients.
- Management of respiratory failure, including proficiency with standard modes of mechanical ventilation.
Pay
Salary range: $70 - $100 per hour, annually.
Schedule
Shifts are typically 7a - 7p or 7p - 7a in the ICU. Hours vary.
