Summary of Duties
The Crisis Care Specialist is responsible for providing direct supervision and daily care of the youth in the Crisis Care Unit, adhering to Abbott House's Code of Conduct, Professionalism, and Ethics.
Responsibilities
- Implements and maintains the therapeutic environment, balancing nurturance, limit setting, and boundaries while understanding the youth’s emotional needs.
- A priority is ensuring the safety of residents.
- Provides positive and appropriate role modeling.
- Maintains communication with unit staff, counseling staff, and other individuals as required.
- Completes intake paperwork with families and updates them on daily progress.
- Maintains thorough and appropriate client documentation and collects records as necessary.
- Notifies of incidents as required.
- Attends and actively participates in weekly team meetings, group supervision, and psychoeducational groups on the units.
- Maintains documentation related to incident reports and client files each shift.
- Provides informative and therapeutic groups.
- Assists with programs as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Degree. Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred. Prior experience preferred with special needs population, especially chemically dependent and/or emotionally, behaviorally disturbed population.
- Possess communication, planning, and time management skills.
- Exercise discretion and confidentiality.
- Active Med Aide Certificate within six months of employment.
- Complete Safe Crisis Management training as required by state agency.
- Complete annual training as required and provided.
- Maintain active CPR Certification.
- Complete two-step TB Test as required by state agency.
- Current driver’s license & proof of insurance.
- Cleared through the Central Registry for Abuse and Neglect and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
- Must be 21 or older.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform crisis intervention techniques to control a physically acting out adolescent.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
