About the role

The Commission on Crime and Delinquency is seeking a motivated Criminal Justice System Specialist 2 to support statewide sheriff training programs. The position assists the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriffs Education and Training Board and the Bureau of Training Services, ensuring training programs, certification activities, and program operations are organized, accurate, and aligned with statewide requirements. In this role you will work with professionals who value accuracy, communication, and teamwork, helping improve programs that make a meaningful difference.

Responsibilities

• Sheriff Liaison: Communicate with sheriffs and deputies through calls, correspondence, site visits, and personnel reviews.
• Contractor Evaluation: Monitor training contractors, observe instruction, resolve program issues, and support quality standards.
• Curriculum Development: Assist with building training curricula and review materials to ensure accuracy and alignment with program needs.
• Needs Assessment: Use questionnaires, interviews, job reviews, and job‑task analysis methods to support training evaluations.
• Contract Management: Prepare work statements, process purchase‑order documents, and review related invoices for approval.
• Record Systems: Maintain hard‑copy and computer‑based training records, oversee certification card processes, and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

• One year as a Criminal Justice System Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title), or
• Two years of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a bachelor’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field, or
• One year of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a master’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field, or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions and pass a background investigation.

Work Schedule

Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Telework is available part‑time, provided you have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location within Pennsylvania. If telework is not possible, you may report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Telework eligibility is subject to change.
