About the role

A criminal defense law firm representing individuals facing a wide range of criminal charges, including DWI/DWAI, domestic violence, drug offenses, larceny, sex crimes, violent crimes, traffic violations, probation violations, and related family law matters.

Responsibilities

• Representing clients in criminal court proceedings, hearings, and trials.
• Conducting legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and AI-assisted legal research tools.
• Drafting motions, memoranda of law, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Preparing cases for hearings and trial by reviewing evidence, interviewing clients and witnesses, and organizing case materials.
• Developing case strategy and providing effective legal representation.
• Communicating regularly with clients regarding case status, legal strategy, and next steps.
• Maintaining organized case files and managing multiple active matters.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the New York State Bar.
• Minimum of three years of experience as an attorney.
• Experience as a current or former Assistant District Attorney, Legal Aid attorney, Public Defender, or criminal defense attorney is required.
• Fluency in Spanish is required, with advanced working proficiency or native-level ability preferred.

$100,000 - $150,000 per year
