Crew Leader I- Public Grounds Facility Maintenance (Salary commensurate with experience)

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and oversees the daily operations of facility maintenance and custodial services ensuring all facility amenities are clean, safe, functional, and maintained to established standards.
  • Performs and assists in supervision of maintenance on all parks and rec. buildings regarding mechanical, electrical, plumbing, roofs, etc.
  • Captures non-routine work requirements to make efficient use of all available resources.
  • Understands facility maintenance and custodial priorities to ensure the highest are addressed if/when demand is greater than available resources.
  • Conveys City and Department standards and verifies they have been met.
  • Conducts and facilitates regular crew meetings to identify, understand, and address specific needs of subordinate custodians with regard to supplies, facility events, leave requirements, and other general information exchange.
  • Supports training and event activities planned and organized by other Departments in their respective facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically able to operate a rubber tire backhoe, front end loader, tractor, roller, dump truck and grade;
  • Utilizes tools such as saws, drills, hammer, mowing and trenching tools, and hand tools.
  • Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to one hundred pounds.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Three (3) years of progressive relevant experience in grounds maintenance, landscape installation or construction, or special event coordination
  • Preferred: Associates degree in grounds maintenance related field

Pay

  • Health Insurance (In-network): $1,000 individual deductible, $3,000 family deductible, Annual maximum out of pocket $3,000 per individual/ $7,500 per family including deductibles, copays and coinsurance.
  • Primary care: $35 copay/ Specialty: $45 copay

Schedule

  • Full-time employees, employed before August 15th of each year, are eligible for a Holiday Bonus.
  • General Employees are enrolled in a 401(a) account upon hire. The account is funded by contributions made by the employee and the City. City contributes 8% of employee’s salary & employee contributes a mandatory 2% Vesting: 5 years of service Supplemental Retirement 457 Plan Designed For Full-time Employees To Save And Invest Money With Tax Benefits. Contributions Are Made To An Account Based On The Amount The Employee Chooses To Allocate. Key Features Of The Plan Include: Flexible withdrawal upon separation from employment Withdrawals after age 59 1/2 or due to a qualified unforeseeable emergency For general employees*, the City will match contributions up to 6% of salary after 2 years of full-time employment. Roth IRA Available for employees to complement other retirement plans by allowing for tax-free earnings and, if needed, flexible withdrawals.
