Crew III Graveyard Pressure Washer - Clean Start

The Crew III Graveyard Pressure Washer position is an integral part of the Clean Start team and is responsible for performing outdoor cleaning duties, field administration, and providing mentorship to other Clean Start employees. By providing comprehensive trash removal and cleaning services across the Portland metro area, Clean Start not only helps maintain a cleaner environment but also empowers its participants with valuable work experience and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7:00pm - 3:30am (Saturday and Sunday off).

Pay
$24.94/hr - $33.11/hr. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, education, credentials/licensure, and internal equity. External candidates: Offer max $28.95/hr per our Union contract.
Responsibilities
- Using independent judgement in the absence of a supervisor, perform field administration, including responding to reports, assessing situations, determining appropriate responses, and providing resources to people experiencing homelessness.
- Provide mobile trash pick-up to locations where people are experiencing homelessness in public places (camps).
- Coordinate with Portland Police Bureau Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) officers and partnering street outreach workers through the Intensive Street Engagement Initiative to develop standard pick-up patrol routes.
- Train new Clean Start trainees.
- Regularly communicate with abandoned autos, NRT officers, and other community partners.
- Remove all trash and debris from sidewalks in identified areas.
- Complete all track-its assigned on a daily basis.
- Document all cleanups via photographs.
- Fill out assessments for each location.
- Understand and follow the Anderson agreement regarding personal property.
- Perform detailed cleaning, including bio-hazards, needle removal, and other special projects.
- Operate an agency telephone, answering and responding to all calls from partners and supervisors quickly and respectfully.
- Pick up large amounts of cardboard, garbage, or debris at designated or assigned locations in the Portland area.
- Dispose of all material cleaned/picked up at the Metro dump.
- Track all clean-up/removal activities on a daily basis.
- Report any unusual incidents involving individuals to the supervisor.
- Train trainees on procedures and protocols.
- Report any issues with the training of trainees to management.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Adhere to safety procedures and all state and federal privacy and security regulations applicable to the program, as well as CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.
- Adhere to all CCC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One year of indoor or outdoor cleaning experience required.
- Experience with biohazard identification and proper disposal highly preferred.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with other staff, Portland Police officers, the general public, and people in the camps experiencing homelessness.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Ability to adhere to Central City Concern’s drug-free workplace, which complies with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
- Must carry an agency cell phone for work use (provided by Central City Concern).
- Must possess a current driver’s license, pass a DMV background check, and be designated an “acceptable” driver as outlined in Central City Concern’s Fleet Safety Policy.
- Must pass an initial driver training within 60 days of being approved and continue recertification training.
- Generally have the ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull, and lift heavy objects, and climb stairs with reasonable or no accommodation.
- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliations, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations, treating each individual with respect and dignity.
- Must adhere to agency non-discrimination policies.
Skills
- Ability to effectively use cleaning agents such as soap, polish, disinfectants, etc.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, lift, and carry 50 pounds.
- Ability to do overhead work.
- Ability to learn the proper use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to learn applicable safety policies and procedures, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and apply workplace and job-site safety standards.
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
- Ability to interact courteously with the general public on the telephone and in person.
- Ability to comprehend and apply written and oral instruction.
- Ability to work in all adverse weather conditions, including rain, wind, heat, cold, snow, and ice.
- Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform duties.
