Credit and Collection Clerk

Collect delinquent balances from customers over 30, 60, or 90+ days past due through direct contact via telephone and email.

Responsibilities

• Prepare follow-up letters for customer accounts, notifications of address changes, and documents for collection agencies.
• Respond to telephone inquiries and assist with questions about customer account status, documenting collection efforts.
• Interact and communicate professionally with customers over the phone, often in stressful situations.
• Resolve problems by clarifying issues, researching alternatives, implementing solutions, and educating customers on billing and payment options.
• Follow up on customer messages and arrangements, entering daily notes in the system about account activity.
• Receive payments and post amounts to customer accounts (credit card, check by phone).
• Assist the accounts receivable department by delivering or picking up mail as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum two (2) years of collections, accounts receivable, customer service, or related experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must be reliable, dependable, and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree.
• Waste industry experience.
• Bilingual (English & Spanish).

  • Problem-solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, calculating, concentration, and interpersonal abilities continuously.
  • Eye/hand coordination, fingering (typing), handling, and wrist motion continuously.
  • Bending, reaching, stretching, standing, and walking occasionally.
• Environmental:
  • Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, and noise occasionally.
  • Exposure to grease, oil, chemicals, and wet conditions occasionally.
  • Works inside only; position is office-based.

Pay

$22.50 - $27.00 per hour
