About the role

The Credentials Coordinator II ensures the seamless and timely flow of credentialing-related information to meet appointment and reappointment deadlines and qualitative requirements. This role participates in the day-to-day operations of credentialing functions, providing recommendations to enhance productivity, meet service levels, and improve turnaround times and satisfaction/quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in research and analysis of credentials files to complete SBARs for senior management and leadership.
  • Maintain the integrity of the provider database for accurate display of information and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Intake Coordinator to provide feedback, coaching, and education on work products, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Obtain verifications from authorized sources in conformance with established procedures and respond to practitioner issues or concerns.
  • Adhere to processing standards, including scope, timeliness, and sequence, as outlined in departmental standards, Medical Staff Bylaws, and related policies.
  • Evaluate application and verification responses for potentially adverse information and apply flagging criteria for further processing.
  • Work with Credentials Analysts to ensure files meet required specifications or perform rework as needed.
  • Monitor the currency of credentials, including notifications for delinquency, automatic suspension, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain detailed, organized individual staff member credentials files and database records.
  • Perform accurate data entry and system updates in MSOW (Morrisey) in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Assist in the research and development of department protocols and privilege forms to reflect clinical practice advances and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in departmental activities to improve processes, efficiency, and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with the Credentials Analyst to resolve and escalate issues as needed.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience in credentialing/privileging or a health-related field, with knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to edit material for correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
  • Proficiency in performing simple mathematical calculations.
  • Proven track record in managing detailed data elements and meeting specified deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a Certified Medical Staff Coordinator (CMSC) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) is highly preferred within two years of hire.

Schedule

Hybrid remote position; must currently live in the Los Angeles area or be willing to relocate for onsite requirements.
