Crane Technician

Location: St. James, LA or Norco, LA
Reports to: Maintenance Manager

About the role

TNT Crane & Rigging, Inc. is seeking a full-time experienced Crane Technician. The mechanic will perform maintenance and repairs on cranes, trucks, forklifts, and other various equipment while following all State and Federal laws, safety, and environmental policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various hydraulic mobile cranes including all terrain, rough terrain, boom trucks, etc.
• Supply your own tools with up-to-date tool inventory (specialty tools are available in the shop).
• Perform scheduled maintenance on trucks, cranes, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Document all maintenance and repairs performed on equipment and file records properly.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, and mechanical crane systems.
• Test mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modifications to ensure compliance with OEM specifications and DOT regulations.
• Verbally communicate safety issues to customers and co-workers before and during job tasks.
• Report to the Maintenance Manager upon completion of assigned tasks for next assignment.
• Work some evenings and weekends at the shop.
• Accomplish tasks independently without direct supervision.
• Maintain all equipment according to safety requirements.
• Properly maintain reports (timesheets, work orders, expense reports, etc.).
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years’ experience as a crane mechanic in an automotive, trucking, or heavy equipment environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with electrical and hydraulics in modern crane technology.
• Working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, ECOS, CCS, and LICCON systems.
• Ability to read and understand operating manuals, parts manuals, and technical drawings.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to obtain a TWIC card.
• Ability to safely lift over 40 lbs.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends.
