Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is recruiting for a full-time, permanent Court Clinical Services Coordinator for the Behavioral Health Division in Albuquerque, NM.

About the role

Under direction, and consistent with professional licensure, the Court Clinical Services Coordinator provides clinical services to the Court, including independent clinical findings to aid the Judge in determining sentencing recommendations, supervision conditions, and sanctions. The role involves serving as an expert witness for the court pursuant to NMRA Section 11-706, administering and interpreting psychological tests, providing staff training, and conducting crisis intervention with defendants.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health screenings and assessments to determine eligibility and suitability for problem-solving and specialty court programs.
• Perform clinical and/or lethality assessments on participants and develop appropriate treatment plans and recommendations.
• Refer clients to specialty court programs based on client needs.
• Design, develop, and utilize screening tools and techniques for program eligibility and suitability determinations.
• Integrate and coordinate treatment goals, probation objectives, and court orders.
• Conduct crisis interventions, consultations, mediations, and settlement facilitations as needed or requested by the court.
• Clinically review requests for proposals for suggested mental health services and manage assigned program contracts.
• Serve as a community treatment liaison and maintain community treatment and case management referral resources/directory.
• Appear in court as an expert witness to provide testimony and treatment recommendations pursuant to NMRA Section 11-706.
• Design and deliver presentations to the court, community, and other agencies regarding mental health issues and specialty courts.
• Administer and interpret psychological testing and other psychological measures.
• Provide staff training as directed by administration and conduct crisis intervention with defendants.
• Interview clients and provide program orientation.
• Work with clients, programs, and probation officers regarding defendant issues (e.g., referrals, feedback, follow-ups, NCIC status).
• Participate in team and case staffing meetings.
• Provide clinical oversight and direction during court program meetings and for interns.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs of the Court.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or another directly related mental health field.
• Current license to practice in New Mexico as a Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or as a Psychologist.
• Five years of experience working with adults and/or families in a therapeutic setting.
• One year of experience in business or public administration, contract services, supervision, or a related field.
• A licensed Ph.D. in Psychology, Counseling, or another mental health-related field may substitute for two years of experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of behavioral health systems, criminal justice system, and probation.
• Understanding of justice therapeutic jurisprudence, individual and group behavior, crisis prevention, and intervention.
• Proficiency in clinical interviewing, assessment, treatment protocols, counseling theories, and techniques.
• Familiarity with substance abuse/chemical dependency, mental health etiology, psychopathology, psychiatric and co-morbid disorders, and treatments.
• Knowledge of ethical standards, HIPAA, domestic violence, child abuse, treatment planning, and community resources.
• Understanding of legal processes and procedures related to mental health, cultural diversity, and eligibility standards for specialty courts.
• Knowledge of New Mexico State Statutes, licensing board rules, and American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines.
• Clinical knowledge of the request for proposal (RFP) process, program design, probation objectives, and mental health agencies.
• Ability to administer and interpret psychological testing protocols.

Work Environment

The role is performed in an office or court setting. A valid driver’s license and travel may be required. The work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. The employee must regularly interact positively with co-workers, clients, the public, judges, and justices.

Pay

$36.541–$45.676 per hour or $76,005.28–$95,006.08 annually.
