Counter Sales Specialist

Your Responsibilities and Requirements

• Maintain a friendly demeanor and provide exceptional customer service following Van Marcke Trade Supply standards.
• Aid customers by answering their questions and assisting them in locating desired merchandise.
• Assist in the receiving, stocking, and pricing of all merchandise.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly store environment.
• Perform all duties in a store POS checkout environment.

• Monitor the unloading of all materials into the facility; ensure materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensure receiving reports accurately report material received.
• Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
• Resolve discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiving reports.
• Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise adjacencies, and presentations; sign, assort, and arrange merchandise in all departments; ensure selling floor is adequately stocked.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store staff meetings, store walk-throughs, and audits.
• Ensure cleanliness of the store: take out the trash, dust, and mop floors, clean restrooms, associate rooms, and stockroom.
• All other duties within the store as trained and directed by the store manager or upper management.

What you’ll need

• Education/Training: High School degree, some college preferred.
• Previous experience in a retail environment, preferably in sales or merchandising roles.
• Possess product knowledge of hardware-related and/or plumbing products, and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekday and weekend shifts to meet the needs of the business.
• Ability to travel to other store locations if needed.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
