Counter Sales Person

About the role

The Counter Sales Person assists customers during the sales/purchase process, responds to inquiries professionally, maintains product knowledge, markets products, and suggests alternatives. The position is safety‑sensitive and requires a pre‑employment drug test screening for amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates, oxycodone, and phencyclidines per HHS/SAMHSA cutoff levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to customers during the sales/purchase process.
• Respond to customer inquiries in a professional manner.
• Maintain awareness of all product knowledge information (catalogs, price sheets, etc.), product promotions and advertisements.
• Market all products sold and suggest replacement/alternative products when appropriate.
• Work safely in a constant state of awareness; adhere to safety‑sensitive position requirements.

Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, monitor, and telephone.
• Ability to bend, climb, push, and pull, including maneuvering at heights and in tight or small places.
• Ability to routinely lift, carry, and transport work‑related materials up to 70 lbs., occasionally exceeding 70 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in the electrical industry and/or knowledge of electrical products beneficial.
• Strong mathematical ability.
• Basic familiarity with the use of a personal computer.

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
• Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including planning and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Fluent in English and Spanish is a plus.
