Counter Sales Person

About the role

The Counter Sales Person is responsible for providing assistance to customers during the sales/purchase process and for responding to customer inquiries in a professional manner. Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information (including product catalogs, price sheets, etc.), product promotions and advertisements. Markets all products sold and suggests replacement/alternative products when appropriate. This is a safety-sensitive position, the ability to work in a constant state of awareness and in a safe manner is imperative. Candidates offered employment must undergo a pre-employment drug test. The test screens for drugs including amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates, oxycodone, and phencyclidines, following the cutoff levels set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This position is subject to a background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities. Only job-related convictions will be considered and will not automatically disqualify the candidate.

Responsibilities

• Market all products sold and suggest replacement/alternative products when appropriate.
• Work in a safety‑sensitive manner, maintaining constant awareness and safe work practices.
• Undergo a pre‑employment drug test screening for amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates, oxycodone, and phencyclidines per HHS/SAMHSA cutoff levels.
• Submit to a background check for job‑related convictions; only such convictions will be considered and will not automatically disqualify the candidate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Minimum of one year experience in the electrical industry and/or knowledge of electrical products required.
• Strong mathematical ability.
• Basic familiarity with the use of a personal computer.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
• Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including ability to plan and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong customer service orientation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone.
• Ability to bend, climb, push, and pull, including the ability to maneuver at heights and in tight or small places.
• Ability to routinely lift, carry, and otherwise transport work‑related materials that frequently weigh up to 70 lb and that may occasionally weigh in excess of 70 lb.
