Counter Sales / CDL Route Backup Driver
About the Role
We are looking for an individual who takes pride in the safe loading, delivery, and handling of high-pressure and cryogenic gas cylinders while maintaining a dedicated commitment to hazardous material safety standards and DOT vehicle inspections.
- Sales & Business Development: Selling industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment, including soliciting sales from both new and existing customers.
- Customer Support: Assisting customers via email, telephone, and in-person walk-ins, and providing guidance on equipment usage and material requirements.
- Operations & Logistics: Managing the loading and unloading of cylinders, operating forklifts, and serving as a backup driver when necessary.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring and maintaining proper hardgoods and cylinder levels to prevent supply emergencies.
- Administrative & Financial: Managing accounts receivable, including discussing past-due accounts and collecting payments, and ensuring all paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have a valid Class A or better CDL with HAZMAT endorsement.
- Must have at least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
- DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
- Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs with the use of equipment.
- Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
- Must maintain a drug-free workplace and adhere to safety regulations and policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift Experience.
- Touch freight delivery experience.
- Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday, start time 7 am (home daily).
- Possible weekends (on call).
