Counter Sales / Backup CDL Route Driver

Location: Wentzville, MO - Retail shop / Pacific, MO - Retail shop

About the role

We are looking for an individual who takes pride in the safe loading, delivery, and handling of high-pressure and cryogenic gas cylinders while maintaining a dedicated commitment to hazardous material safety standards and DOT vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities

• Sales & Business Development: Selling industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment, including soliciting sales from both new and existing customers.
• Customer Support: Assisting customers via email, telephone, and in-person walk-ins, and providing guidance on equipment usage and material requirements.
• Operations & Logistics: Managing the loading and unloading of cylinders, operating forklifts, and serving as a backup driver when necessary.
• Inventory Management: Monitoring and maintaining proper hardgoods and cylinder levels to prevent supply emergencies.
• Administrative & Financial: Managing accounts receivable, including discussing past-due accounts and collecting payments, and ensuring all paperwork is accurately completed (coding, costing, and pricing).

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Class B or better CDL with HAZMAT endorsement.
• Must have at least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs with the use of equipment.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace and adhere to safety regulations and policies.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience.
• Touch freight delivery experience.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, start time 7 am (home daily).
• Possible weekends (on call).
