Counter Sales Assocate/Backup Delivery Driver (CDL B)

Location: Rock Falls, IL - E. Rte 30 - Retail shop

About the role

This is a unique hybrid position that blends in-store customer sales with local driving and delivery. You’ll move between sales, warehouse operations, and local driving—building customer relationships, assisting with sales, and serving as a backup delivery driver when needed.

Responsibilities

• Selling industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to new and existing customers.
• Assisting customers via email, telephone, and in-person walk-ins, including providing guidance on equipment usage and material requirements.
• Managing loading and unloading of cylinders, operating forklifts, and serving as a backup driver.
• Monitoring and maintaining proper hardgoods and cylinder inventory levels to prevent supply emergencies.
• Handling accounts receivable, including discussing past-due accounts, collecting payments, and ensuring accurate paperwork (coding, costing, pricing).

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Class B or better CDL with HAZMAT endorsement (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
• Successful completion of Airgas background and motor vehicle check; DOT Clearinghouse verification required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to over 100 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace and adhere to safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience.
• Customer service experience.
• Touch freight delivery experience.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, morning start time.

Pay

Hourly pay range of $26.50 – $28.50, plus quarterly driver bonus and gain share payouts.
