About the role

The Bethel School District is seeking School Counselor and Social Worker applicants who are committed to supporting students' academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, behavioral success, and college and career readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Provides classroom lessons to teach academic, college and career readiness, and social-emotional skills.
  • Provides individual and small-group counseling to support students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and career development.
  • Affords assessments of student needs and develops intervention strategies that promote academic success, attendance, engagement, and overall well-being.
  • Provides crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and referrals to appropriate school and community resources.
  • Collaborates with students, families, staff, administrators, and community agencies to identify barriers to learning and coordinate student supports.
  • Supports implementation of interventions and services that promote positive school climate, student wellness, equity, and student success.
  • Aids students with academic planning, goal setting, educational planning, transitions, and college and career readiness activities appropriate to the assigned grade level.
  • Provides consultation and resources to staff and families regarding student academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Maintains confidential student records, documentation, and reports in accordance with district policy and state and federal law.
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, staff, and community partners regarding student progress, interventions, and available supports.
  • Reports suspected child abuse, neglect, threats to student safety, and other mandatory reporting requirements in accordance with state law and district policy.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate with appropriate School Counselor or School Social Worker endorsement.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development.
  • Knowledge of counseling principles, intervention strategies, crisis response, social-emotional learning, and student support services.
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Section 504, special education referral processes, and student intervention systems.
  • Knowledge of Washington State attendance requirements, mandatory reporting laws, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and restorative practices.
