Costume Shop Overhire

Boston Conservatory at Berklee is seeking casual, hourly employees for Costume Shop openings in the following roles: draper/stitchers, wardrobe assistants, and hair/wigs/makeup assistants. These positions are part of the Performance Services department and report to the Costume Shop Manager and staff.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in a professional theatrical/performance environment, in general operations or a specific area

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work independently, take direction, move with urgency, and remain diplomatic and calm in fast-paced situations
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, FileMaker, or similar formats for record-keeping and communications
• Interest in and knowledge of costume construction techniques and wardrobe maintenance

Work Environment

• Indoor environments, some with low light: stages, backstage areas, dressing rooms, costume shop, props storage, office spaces, closets, catwalks
• Seated and standing positions
• May work closely with student workers

Special Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Some nights and weekends required
• Local travel may be required (valid driver’s license necessary)
• May be required to lift and move up to 40 pounds
• May be required to climb stairs and ladders

Final compensation is based on experience, potential, and level of specialization. Accepted candidates will join Berklee’s payroll and submit hours worked via Workday.
