Corrections Teaching Assistant

About the role

This position exists to provide support to the Education Department on meeting institutional educational goals. The position is located at a Minnesota Correctional Facility and will have contact with students who are incarcerated.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Education Department on meeting institutional educational goals.
• Support the implementation of educational programs and activities.
• Assist in maintaining and managing educational materials and resources.
• Collaborate with staff to develop and implement educational strategies.
• Assist in monitoring and managing a computer lab.
• Teach, conduct training classes/workshops, and/or tutor students.
• Maintain accurate records and data for reporting purposes.

Requirements

• Experience in an educational or office setting.
• Effective operating office equipment.
• Proficiency in email, calendar, presentation, word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications.
• Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse population.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Experience and skill in educational program platforms sufficient to monitor and manage a computer lab.
• Classroom experience, including teaching, conducting training classes/workshops, and/or tutoring.
• Experience working in an educational setting.
• Experience working in a correctional setting.

Skills

• Records management sufficient to gather and maintain statistical and other data for reporting purposes.
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse population.

Pay

$21.36 - $29.68 / hourly; $44,599 - $61,971 / annually

Day Shift: Monday - Friday
