About the role
Kind of Work Routine supervises inmates incarcerated at the Northeastern Regional Corrections Center (NERCC).
Responsibilities
- Maintain security at NERCC.
- Record and report inmate movements, activities and problems.
- Counsel inmates on behavioral issues.
- Provide transportation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older, according to Minnesota Statute 2911.0600.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualification
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, criminology or corrections.
- Two (2) years full-time paid verifiable experience in a human services field.
Qualifications
- Experience beyond ten years may be included on the application for purposes of meeting minimum qualifications or informing the hiring authority of your complete employment history.

- Ability to maintain security at NERCC.
- Verbal de-escalation skills.
- Writing detailed reports.
- Teamwork experience in a multi-functional facility.

Pay
The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $26.07 - $39.42 per hour.
Schedule
The Corrections Officer position involves shift work providing 24 hour/7 days per week coverage, including weekends and holidays.
Selection Process
- Minimum Qualifications (Pass/Fail): High school diploma or equivalent, 18 years of age or older, according to Minnesota Statute 2911.0600, possession of a valid driver's license.
- Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, criminology or corrections, two (2) years full-time paid verifiable experience in a human services field.
Rating System
Points will be awarded based on the applicants answers to supplemental questions 10-13.
