About the role
Loews Vanderbilt Hotel seeks a vigilant and proactive Security Officer to ensure a secure and peaceful environment for guests and staff.
Responsibilities
- Maintain secure access to team member entrances
- Execute regular patrols to identify and address safety hazards
- Respond effectively to emergencies according to established procedures
- Inspect packages for unauthorized items and maintain facility integrity
- Document security incidents and actions taken
- Enforce hotel policies and foster a culture of safety
- Interact professionally with guests, addressing concerns and enhancing their experience
- Monitor CCTV systems and assist in maintaining a secure environment
- Facilitate communication with management on safety-related issues
- Manage lost and found items efficiently
- Collaborate with team members on health and safety training initiatives
Requirements
- Previous experience in hotel security or a related field (1-3 years preferred)
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
- Ability to operate departmental vehicles, including electric transport vehicles
- Basic first-aid certification or ability to administer first aid
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field preferred
- Knowledge of security systems, safety regulations, and emergency response protocols
- Experience using CCTV systems and other security technology
- Experience in customer service or hospitality
- Background in law enforcement or military service
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation for incidents and safety issues
- Additional certifications in security training, conflict resolution, or emergency response
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
