About the role
The Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is recruiting to fill a part-time Corrections Nurse 1/2 position located in Kenai at the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of higher-level nurses, and in accordance with an established training plan, the Corrections Nurse 1/2 performs developmental duties independently assessing, monitoring, and maintaining the physical well-being of the residents at the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility, a 24-hour secure facility.
- Provides direct care within their scope of practice and utilizes medical protocols, when necessary and available, to meet the health needs of the residents.
- When medical conditions are beyond their scope or protocols, the CN 1/2 refers the resident to a higher level of care.
Requirements
- Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
- Minimum Qualifications: Corrections Nurse 1 - Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
- Special Note: Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite qualifying experience, may apply for vacancies in this job class. Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of licensure will be required prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.

Pay
The starting salary will be determined by the level of the position. If filled at Level I, promotion to the Level II will only occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class and final approval by supervisor.
Schedule
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the I or II level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience.
