Responsibilities
- Oversee custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody while upholding the mission of the Department.
- Serve as a lead worker, ensuring facility operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
- Serve as a supervisor during movement assignments, monitor high-security areas, and conduct security operations such as transports, searches, and emergency response.
- Play a key part in staff development, assisting in training and potentially mentoring subordinate staff as a Field Training Officer (FTO).
- Lead by example, modeling professionalism, accountability, and behaviors that support rehabilitation efforts.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of experience in a correctional security setting where your primary duties were the care and custody of AICs;
- Be able to obtain, within two weeks, an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Correctional Certificate OR a Correctional Certificate from another government agency;
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED certificate;
- Be 21 years of age or older;
- United States Citizen.
Special Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator's license.

Working Conditions
- The employee works inside a secure adult correctional facility.
- Daily contact with mostly medium-security Adults In Custody in the secure confinement of a correctional facility;
- Subject to "call-back" in emergencies;
- Works overtime, as required.
About the Process – What To Expect

- Interview will be held with a panel of stakeholders who have completed panel assessment training. Scores will be determined based on predetermined questions and scoring guides.

- Final candidates will have a background check, PREA check, and reference checks.

Requirements for Employment
- The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
- Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position. However, having a felony record does not exclusively restrict you from being considered as an applicant.
- CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
