About the role

Responsibilities
- Maintain security in correctional facilities and intervene during emergencies or altercations.
- Supervise offenders' movements, conduct counts, and search for contraband.
- Escort and transport offenders to designated locations.
- Safeguard health and safety by conducting inspections and reporting issues.
- Discuss minor issues with offenders and refer serious problems to appropriate staff.
- Perform tasks according to established rules, regulations, and orders.
- Engage in rehabilitation efforts by modifying offender attitudes and encouraging positive behaviors.
- Receive general administrative direction and perform other related work as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- Completion of Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Qualifications
- Ability to complete firearms certification training.

- Knowledge of correctional facility operations and procedures.

Pay
- $2.00 per hour shift differential for shifts between 12:00pm and 5:00am at 24/7 facilities.
- $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential for full-time positions at qualifying facilities.
- $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential for posts within segregation units.
Schedule
- Guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
