Security Officer, Full-Time

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting with the protection of property and assets, including employees, through responding to Fire, medical, and other emergencies on campus; enforcing policies as directed by management or the employee handbook.

Essential Job Functions

• Physical patrols of campus buildings, garages, and surface lots
• Directing traffic on campus
• Responding to Fire, medical, and other emergencies on campus
• Maintenance of Guest Room Safes, Golf carts, and other Loss Prevention equipment
• Maintenance of First Aid Equipment, including all kits and Automatic External Defibrillators

Knowledge And Skills

• High school education, GED, or equivalent experience
• 1-4 years previous security experience
• Proficient technology skills with POS systems

Physical Job Requirements

• Physical Stamina: Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to work safely and effectively in outdoor temperatures. Summer temperatures outside can get above 95 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 months of the year. For 2 months of the year, low temperatures can get below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Must be able to swim.
• Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
• Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
• Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
• Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
