About the role
SPEC Building Materials Corporation is a leading wholesale distributor of high-quality building materials, equipment, and products for commercial and residential roofing contractors. With 38 branch locations across the Midwest, South, and Southeastern regions, SPEC is seeking a Corporate Trainer to coach, train, and mentor associates in the building materials industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop training curriculum
- Teach and coach new associates
- Schedule associates’ training modules
- Arrange key vendor product demonstrations
- Create continuing education programs for associates
- Evaluate new employees’ progress
- Handle some HR responsibilities and onboarding tasks
Requirements
- Preferably a background in the building materials industry
- Extensive product knowledge in steep slope and low slope roofing materials (preferred)
- Strong leadership qualities
- Proven sales skills
- Must reside in the greater Kansas City area
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Workspace, and Zoom
- Entrepreneurial spirit; self-motivated and enthusiastic about the business
- Excellent customer service, management, and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel
- Dependable with a current state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Legally entitled to work in the United States
- Must pass a company-required drug test
