About the role
We are searching for a Corporate Payroll Manager to provide leadership, project planning, and organization for multiple diverse projects of varying size and scope, while overseeing bi-weekly payroll processing for all locations. This position reports to the CJK Group VP of Corporate Finance and will work closely with the senior payroll accountant and HR leadership.
Responsibilities
- Assess current pay policies and practices of newly acquired companies and align with Corporate policies and practices, including gaining an understanding of the current systems used by newly acquired companies.
- Act as project leader in the implementation and setup of newly acquired companies in time and attendance systems as well as payroll systems.
- Oversee and assist with the configuration and testing of payroll and time and attendance systems.
- Act as liaison with the 401k provider, including processing all related reports, changes, and verifying the annual census.
- Continue standardization of current and future payrolls.
- Hire, develop, mentor, and conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Monitor for optimum performance of the accounting function related to the processing and accounting for all aspects of payroll.
- Act within the scope of authority and consistent with Corporate objectives, guidelines, policies, and practices.
- Supervise and back up all regular duties associated with the preparation, generation, and distribution of payrolls; delegate appropriate duties to department employees.
- Act as liaison with the payroll processing company for problem resolution and error correction.
- Serve as administrator for the time & attendance system to oversee proper compliance and accuracy of payrolls.
- Oversee the resolution of payroll questions, issues, and adjustments, and implement process improvements to avoid future adjustments.
- Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of payroll-related analysis, statements, and projections as needed, including all year-end payroll adjustments.
- Oversee the month-end close process and preparation for the year-end audit.
- Prepare various monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including numerous ad hoc reports as requested by management.
- Provide ongoing support to all levels of the organization.
- Provide open communications to both employees and management.
- Complete other tasks as defined by management.
Requirements
- Proficient in ADP WFN and ADP WFM.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced functions of Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- A sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Able to work independently and organize time effectively while handling changing priorities.
- Able to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar experience preferred.
- CPP preferred.
- Supervisory experience in a payroll environment is required.
- 10+ years’ experience managing a payroll department for a large employer with multiple locations and states.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
