Responsibilities
- Structure, draft, redline and negotiate complex commercial agreements and contracts
- Work with multiple business teams to draft detailed and complex statements of work and other key exhibits and documents
- Advise executives within the company and work alongside employees in the Freight Forwarding and Transportation Management units in addition to Corporate Support functions
- Advise executive team on contract status and legal risks in new commercial ventures
- Manage various projects and meet tight corporate deadlines
- Provide training and development support to Paralegals within department
- Maintain strong working knowledge of legislative changes that may affect company, customers, and/or affiliates
- Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights
- Effectively communicate legal risks with executive staff
Requirements
- Membership in good standing with at least one state bar required
- Must be able to practice law in at least one state; will need to get TN bar license or in-house license if hired
- 4+ years of legal experience as a transactional attorney, preferably with experience in commercial transactions/contracts
- Transportation experience a big plus
- PC literate with a command of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to perform duties using project management principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
- Ability to draft contractual requirements
- Superior problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to provide clear and direct communications both verbally and in written form
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage own work
- Self-motivated and able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
