Responsibilities

  • Structure, draft, redline and negotiate complex commercial agreements and contracts
  • Work with multiple business teams to draft detailed and complex statements of work and other key exhibits and documents
  • Advise executives within the company and work alongside employees in the Freight Forwarding and Transportation Management units in addition to Corporate Support functions
  • Advise executive team on contract status and legal risks in new commercial ventures
  • Manage various projects and meet tight corporate deadlines
  • Provide training and development support to Paralegals within department
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of legislative changes that may affect company, customers, and/or affiliates
  • Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights
  • Effectively communicate legal risks with executive staff

Requirements

  • Membership in good standing with at least one state bar required
  • Must be able to practice law in at least one state; will need to get TN bar license or in-house license if hired
  • 4+ years of legal experience as a transactional attorney, preferably with experience in commercial transactions/contracts
  • Transportation experience a big plus
  • PC literate with a command of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once

  • Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to perform duties using project management principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
  • Ability to draft contractual requirements
  • Superior problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to provide clear and direct communications both verbally and in written form
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage own work
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
