Primary Purpose of Role
The Corporate Counsel – Global Labor & Employment provides strategic, practical, actionable, and risk-based legal advice on labor and employment matters across the Company’s U.S. and international operations. This role partners closely with the Assistant General Counsel - Global Labor & Employment, Human Resources, Compliance, and business leaders to support a globally consistent approach to workforce management while navigating complex and evolving employment laws and regulations across a wide array of issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, pragmatic, and competent legal advice on a broad range of labor and employment matters across all business functions and jurisdictions, including hiring and recruiting, discipline and termination, performance and workforce management, discrimination and harassment, accommodations, leaves of absence, wage and hour, compensation and benefits, health and safety, and employee relations.
- Advise on and, in some cases, manage employment-related disputes and claims, including representing the Company before administrative agencies (e.g., EEOC, NLRB, DOL, OSHA, and comparable international authorities), overseeing mediations and hearings, and supporting labor and employment litigation through partnership with in-house litigation counsel.
- Partner closely with Human Resources and business leaders to prevent, mitigate, and resolve employment issues, including providing training and guidance on key labor and employment topics.
- Support immigration and work authorization matters by advising business leaders on compliance obligations and strategy, and coordinating with external providers, as appropriate.
- Effectively monitor, interpret, and advise on changes in labor and employment laws, regulations, and standards; proactively assess risk and recommend strategies and process improvement to support compliance.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with internal stakeholders and Legal leadership, exercising sound judgment regarding escalation and reporting of issues, taking into account what is material to the respective audience.
- At the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer: Assist with and conduct internal investigations, including investigations relating to highly sensitive employment-related matters.
- Review, draft, and update policies, codes of conduct, and procedures that support compliance with rules and regulations applicable to the business and alignment with Company values.
- Advises on employment aspects of corporate transactions and strategic initiatives, including M&A, restructurings, reductions in force, and post-transaction integration.
- Manage outside counsel as required, ensuring high-quality legal support and cost-effective outcomes.

Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license in good standing, with no pending discipline or complaints, to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and ability to obtain a license to practice law in Indiana
- Well-developed legal, investigative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt, take on new roles, and learn new areas of the law
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with ability to communicate legal concepts to non-lawyers at all levels of the organization
- Detail oriented
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives and elevate matters to legal and business leadership at appropriate times
