About the role

Advise a cutting-edge business on novel legal issues at the intersection of healthcare and technology, including artificial intelligence, large language models, intellectual property ownership, data privacy, and next-generation genomic testing. Support ambitious business goals by building a legal team that handles complex commercial agreements to redefine how healthcare data is used in clinical settings.

In addition to transactional work, you will assist with general legal matters in a rapidly growing technology and healthcare company, including intellectual property, employment and human resources, corporate governance, fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory, and international issues.

Collaborate with internal business units such as commercial organizations, data science, medical affairs, product & engineering, finance, communications, and people teams to evaluate legal risks and opportunities, facilitating business goals in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, negotiate, and advise on complex commercial agreements with healthcare providers, life sciences companies, payers, pharmaceutical companies, government entities, and others in healthcare, biotech, and life sciences.
  • Work on a variety of agreements, including clinical and research projects, data license and transfer agreements, strategic collaborations, laboratory services agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • Address new legal issues involving artificial intelligence, large language models, intellectual property ownership, data privacy, and cutting-edge healthcare technology.
  • Assist with corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment matters, intellectual property, fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, and international legal issues.
  • Evaluate legal risks and opportunities for business projects, helping to facilitate business goals across multiple teams.

Requirements

  • JD degree and current bar membership in at least one state.
  • 4+ years of relevant healthcare transactional experience at an established law firm or in-house role.
  • Strong familiarity with the healthcare regulatory environment, including HIPAA, Medicare and Medicaid payment issues, Stark regulation, fraud and abuse issues, and data privacy regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with impeccable judgment, including evaluating and communicating legal risks.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Energized by working in a high-throughput, open environment with continual multitasking and reprioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity to explore new concepts and accept new challenges.
