Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, master service agreements and other vendor contracts, guarantees and letters of credit, contracts for the purchase and sale of natural gas, confidentiality agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Consult with company management and specialized individual contributors to provide accurate, relevant, and timely advice on a variety of legal topics that relate to corporate law, the energy industry, and the company’s products and services.
  • Establish and carry out best practices for the legal protection of intellectual property rights.
  • Serve as liaison with external counsel on specialized matters and actual or potential litigation.
  • Review, consult, research, and draft filings on bankruptcy cases and collections suits.
  • Stay up to date with changes in laws and regulations that directly affect our business and industry.
  • Provide legal research, consultation, support, and liaison with internal clients on ad hoc matters.
  • Contribute to team projects to establish protective governance controls and mitigate legal risks.
  • Assist with legal operations improvements, such as templates, playbooks, and training.
  • Participate in employment matters, corporate investigations, and document retention.

Requirements

  • Active member in good standing of a U.S. state bar (required), with Florida Bar or Georgia Bar membership preferred.
  • Approximately 2+ years of legal experience in corporate, transactional, regulatory, or comparable fields of law (experience in the energy industry, government, or military is a plus).
  • Hands-on experience using generative AI tools for legal work (such as contract review or AI-assisted research and drafting), along with an understanding of related legal and ethical considerations. Informal or self-directed experience is acceptable. Proficiency with generative AI tools – and enthusiasm for their use – is a core requirement for this role.

Pay

Pay range is commensurate with education, experience, specialized skills or certifications, etc. Gas South Pay Range : $98,106 USD - $109,648 USD

Schedule

Hybrid: Remote + weekly in-office presence in either Gas South’s Atlanta, GA headquarters or Gainesville, FL office for a minimum of two (2) days per week.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk or workstation while performing computer-based tasks, conducting meetings, and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk within the office environment, such as when attending meetings, interacting with colleagues or external stakeholders, or visiting different departments.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry material, files, or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds, such as when organizing documents or setting up for meetings.
