About the Role

The attorney in this position will work in the Law Department’s Global Resort Operations and Owner Services Group, reporting to the Vice President & Assistant General Counsel for Global Resort Operations and Owner Services. The attorney will provide Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation (“MVW”) operating divisions and staff departments with legal assistance and advice, collaborating with individuals at MVW’s resorts, corporate office, operating divisions, staff departments, and externally with outside counsel, vendors, and consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clients with legal assistance and advice regarding contracts, resort and owner services issues, and association governance.
  • Offer general legal advice and counsel regarding compliance with various laws and regulations.
  • Support association governance, owner services, and operational finance and accounting business partners.
  • Draft documentation relating to the management and operation of MVW’s resorts and exchange companies, including management agreements, integration agreements, leases, easements, vendor contracts, service agreements, and affiliation agreements.
  • Collaborate with Global Resort Operations and Owner Services team members to identify opportunities for and offer training to business partners.
  • Support all aspects of company policies and practices.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel, vendors, and consultants to support resort operations and owner services matters.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Excellent academic record with a law degree from a top law school; admission to the bar of any state.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in a well-regarded law firm or comparable corporate environment.
  • Broad base of legal knowledge with strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Real estate and corporate experience preferred, with an emphasis on real estate, condominium, timeshare, corporate, and contract law.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide leadership.
  • Ability to understand and analyze laws and legal concepts of foreign jurisdictions.
  • High degree of competence and familiarity with computers and the Internet.
  • Strong analytical skills and a constructive approach to dealing with conflict.
  • Ability to influence and achieve successful results without damaging relationships.
  • Ability to expeditiously identify and assess issues, evaluate risk, and provide legally sound recommendations consistent with good business practices and reason.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of, and effectively resolve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills; ability to interact effectively and work diplomatically with individuals at all levels.
