Corporate Counsel
About the role
The Corporate Counsel role provides legal services to MaineHealth’s constituent hospitals and ambulatory healthcare practices and administration.
Responsibilities
- Provides advice regarding the legal and ethical considerations in patient care.
- Provides advice regarding compliance with patient privacy and data security laws and regulations.
- Represents MaineHealth in administrative hearings involving patient care, subpoenas for patient records, treatment orders and related proceedings.
- Participates in cross-disciplinary system committees.
- Consults with care teams on complex patient care matters.
- Reviews and drafts contracts and agreements.
- Interacts with insurers regarding application, coverage, and insurance renewals.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited law school required.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Maine required.
- Admission to Maine State Bar required.
- Five years of experience representing healthcare clients and demonstrating knowledge of health law, commercial contracting, patient privacy laws and other legal topics associated with the representation of health care providers required.
