Job Summary

The Corporate & Community Engagement Relationship Manager (Business) acts as an account manager who proactively engages with employers to maximize career outcomes for students across the University of Utah. This role is housed in the U Career Success office which supports students with tools, resources, and support for informed career decisions, skill development, and successful transitions into the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Executes professional corporate outreach to local, regional, national, and global businesses, focusing on developing long-term, value-driven partnerships.
  • Develops job and internship opportunities for students while designing unique, results-oriented engagement programs for employer partners.
  • Collaborates closely with corporate outreach staff, career coaches, and University stakeholders, including those in business-related academic units, as well as relevant marketing, data, programming, and event staff.
  • Leverages a strong understanding of employer needs and talent pipelines to lead new business development activities.
  • Manages an extensive portfolio of employers, including high-touch and high-stakes accounts requiring strategic relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience.
  • Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan, and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.
  • Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.
  • Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.

  • Strong customer service and consultative relationship-building skills.
  • Sales or business development experience.
  • Exceptional organizational skills related to account management.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of client-driven projects and consider the business needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work well collaboratively and autonomously.
  • Interest in acting as a connector across University and industry initiatives.
  • Experience with Salesforce or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is desired.
  • Background or education in business or a related field is helpful.
