Corporate Accountant
Summary Description
The Corporate Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, managing the accounting of fixed assets and the accounting for leases (ASC 842), consolidation accounting, technical accounting research, and maintaining strong internal controls. This position will act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external partners, including outsourced tax services, external auditors, and risk management.
What You’ll Be Doing
Financial Reporting & Consolidation Accounting
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset and lease subledger in Dynamics 365, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the parent corporation.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including consolidations and intercompany eliminations.
- Cook up coordination with subsidiaries to ensure consistent accounting policies and reporting.
Technical Accounting & Compliance Research
- Research and analyze complex accounting issues, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance on accounting policies and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Aid in the preparation of white papers and technical accounting memos.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Serve as a key liaison for external auditors, ensuring timely completion of annual audits.
- Support internal financial controls and implement best practices to enhance financial accuracy.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to strengthen governance and risk management frameworks.
Tax & Risk Management
- Liaise as the primary point of contact for outsourced tax service providers, ensuring accurate and timely tax compliance and reporting.
- Coordinate with risk management teams to ensure appropriate financial reporting and disclosures related to insurance, claims, and other risk-related matters.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred).
3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a large corporate or public accounting firm (Big 4 experience is a plus).
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial consolidations, and technical accounting principles.
Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is highly desired.
Experience with OneStream or similar consolidation/reporting tools is strongly preferred.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, Power Query, etc.).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments and regions.
