Responsibilities
- Complete monthly accounting for a portfolio of markets
- Responsible for the preparation of the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial/accounting activities and all financial statements and reporting
- Provide a high level of customer service to the market leaders, property management team and clients associated with your markets
- Responsible for the daily entry of receipt posting of payments payable to Newmark
- Avoid and adopt new process improvements and process changes
- Work closely with Controller/Assistant Controller on day-to-day functions
- Work independently and ensure all internal and external deadlines are met
- Proactively reach out to manager regarding questions
- Assists with client and internal audits by providing requested documents and answering questions
- Provides internal audit samples for SOX and SOC1 audit
- Coincides accounting matters with other departments, locations and divisions
- Partners with market leaders to ensure financials are accurate and delivered timely, directly impacting client satisfaction
- Ensures all expenses and receipts and other accounting transactions for the period are accurately recorded
- Responds to and resolves issues and requests from property management teams and clients
- Researches open accounting issues and recognizes potential issues and/or conflicts and implements solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting or equivalent experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Experience with a computerized ERP system required, experience with Oracle system a plus
- Experience with full-cycle accounting and the preparation of monthly financial statement packages, preferred
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations
- Works effectively in a team environment through collaboration and partnership
- Customer service oriented with an aspiration to succeed with the client in mind
- Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively by offering solutions to resolve issues
- Ability to read and understand complex documents such as property management agreements
