About the role
GMB is seeking a Landscape Architect to join our project teams. In this role, you will work closely with other Landscape Architecture and Civil Engineering team members within a large, professional architectural and engineering firm. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, and other designers to support our clients in the educational ecosystem, from Pre-K through Higher Education and community spaces that support lifelong learning.
Our integrated team works on a wide range of project types, including building design, performance engineering, communications campaigns, branding, enrollment marketing, financial analysis, projections, and planning. We are proud of the impact our work has on the lives and trajectories of students across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Lead site design and preparation of illustrative concepts, design development solutions, and detailed construction documents.
- Participate with multiple teams on a variety of project types and scales.
- Pursue growth in GMB's core markets, expanding your technical knowledge, design capabilities, leadership skills, and client interaction.
- Design environments that enhance the human experience, prioritizing play, learning, stewardship, and collaboration.
- Engage with interdisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and community members to develop innovative and effective solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Landscape Architecture or a related field from an accredited program.
- 6-8+ years of experience at an Architectural, Landscape Architectural, or Civil Engineering firm.
- Currently professionally licensed or on the path to licensure.
- Excellent time management skills and a thorough understanding of task assignment, scheduling, budgeting, and efficient use of resources.
- Ability to lead and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams while working independently to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Strong skill set in athletics, playground, and recreation design.
- Understanding of site circulation as it relates to vehicles, buses, and pedestrians.
- Experience with higher education and master planning is appreciated.
- Creative designer with a passion for quality and exceptional client service.
- Proficiency in relevant design/drafting software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, and Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).

- Proven team player who enjoys a collaborative work environment.
- Motivated by building relationships with both fellow employees and clients.
- Understanding of both design and constructability.
- Demonstrated ability to balance short-term deadlines against long-term goals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Horticultural knowledge.
- AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar modeling experience.
