Responsibilities
- Represent the programs in the community by giving presentations, participating in meetings and conferences, and building local partnerships.
- Conduct outreach to recruit senior volunteers and develop new volunteer station relationships.
- Spend more than 50% of work time in the field, attending events, conducting outreach, and supporting volunteer stations.
- Recruit, screen, place, and supervise volunteers to ensure successful assignments.
- Plan and organize volunteer meetings and events, including schedules and agendas.
- Deliver ongoing volunteer training on program objectives, community resources, and advanced learning opportunities.
- Recruit community professionals and subject experts to support training sessions.
- Aid in the coordination, training, and retention of volunteers.
- Support planning and coordination of program activities.
- Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with federal grant requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with volunteer stations; negotiate, review, and update Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) based on community needs.
- Ensure appropriate use of technology for all program operations.
- Manage program communications including newsletters, social media, press releases, radio ads, and general media relations.
- Help build positive working relationships with internal staff and external partners.
- Track expenditures and manage project budgets responsibly.
- Maintain office supplies, training materials, and related resources.
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage confidently with community groups, volunteers, and partner agencies.
- Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
- Strong organizational skills and diligence.
- Ability to work independently and manage a field-based schedule.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent local travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social services, education, or a related field OR Four years progressively responsible experience, or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.
- Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, education, or social services.
- Experience working with older adults or in a nonprofit environment.
- Familiarity with AmeriCorps Seniors programs.
Other Skills And Abilities
- Strong knowledge of volunteer services, including principles, best practices, and effective volunteer engagement strategies.
- Working knowledge of community networking and the ability to build productive relationships with local partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skill in organizing, motivating, and coordinating volunteers across diverse and rural communities.
- Ability to make independent decisions within established policies and procedures, using sound judgment and initiative.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, including identifying issues and applying practical resolution techniques.
- Self-directed and able to work independently while managing responsibilities across multiple locations during frequent travel.
- Commitment to following all safety rules, practices, and procedures and performing work in a safe manner.
