About the role

The AmeriCorp coordinator ensures the success of NEWESD 101 programs by managing and mentoring AmeriCorps members and providing meaningful and impactful experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, trains, and mentors AmeriCorps members serving within the YouthBuild program to deliver services in compliance with NEWESD, state, federal guidelines, and grant requirements.
  • Conducts orientation and ongoing training to ensure members understand their roles, responsibilities, and program expectations.
  • Provides consistent supervision, coaching, and professional development to support AmeriCorps members in their service duties.
  • Monitors and evaluates member performance to ensure compliance with AmeriCorps policies and program guidelines.
  • Facilitates regular check-ins, team meetings, and one-on-one coaching sessions with members to support them in addressing challenges, improving engagement, and meeting service goals.
  • Tracks member progress, service hours, and required documentation to comply with AmeriCorps requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with YouthBuild and AmeriCorps program staff, instructors, committees, and advisory groups to integrate AmeriCorps members into program activities and service projects and meet program objectives.
  • Fosters a strong culture of civic engagement, leadership development, and teamwork among members.
  • Schedules and facilitates monthly service projects in collaboration with other team members.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to enhance member experiences and service opportunities.
  • Ensures adherence to AmeriCorps grant requirements, policies, and reporting obligations (e.g., enrolls a total of 50 AmeriCorps members, conducts three service project days, submits success stories, etc.).
  • Assists with conflict resolution and member disciplinary actions as necessary to maintain a healthy climate and culture.
  • Provides recognition, support, and incentives to promote member retention.
  • Participates in and represents NEWESD 101 in a variety of meetings and travels both locally and statewide (e.g., conferences, meetings, training) to gather and convey information.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g., case notes, statistical reports, pre/post follow-up, etc.) to document activities, provide written reference, and convey information.
  • Enters data into both written and electronic systems to track outcomes and progress toward goals.
  • Transports members/students in NEWESD 101 vehicles as needed to support program activities and service learning events.
  • Reports immediately to agency supervisor or assistant superintendent any incident that poses a threat to the safety, security, or integrity of youth, staff, or partners and follows up with a written incident report to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Performs related duties as assigned within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the classification of work.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Qualifications

Experience: Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Two years of successful experience working with youth/young adults in alternative/at-risk programs within scope of work and experience with GED preparation is highly preferred.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Clearances: WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance (at employee's expense); clear driver abstract for the last five years.

Certificates/Licenses: Hold and maintain a valid driver license, reliable transportation, and required auto insurance; obtain and maintain certification in first aid/CPR; obtain and maintain Pearson Vue GED proctor certification.

Benefits

SEBB health benefits are available if NEWESD 101 anticipates you will work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31). SEBB benefits include:

  • Medical insurance – Optional. Employees who carry medical insurance will have a monthly out-of-pocket cost. Family/dependents may be covered.
  • Dental insurance – Mandatory and free to the employee and their family/dependents.
  • Vision insurance – Mandatory and free to the employee and their family/dependents.
  • Life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance – Basic life insurance is mandatory, and a $35,000 policy is free to the employee. Additional life insurance may be purchased.
  • Long-term disability insurance – Basic long-term disability insurance is mandatory and free to the employee. Additional long-term disability insurance may be purchased.
  • Employees have the option to enroll in a flexible spending account.

Participation in School Employees Retirement System is mandatory if your position is eligible (requires at least 70 hours of compensated employment in a month for at least five months during a 12-month period, expected for two consecutive years).

Employees may also contribute to a deferred compensation account (457 plan) or a tax-sheltered annuity (403(b) plan).

Pay

It is anticipated that the salary will increase by 2.6% effective September 1, 2026.
