About the role
Copper Hills Elementary School is seeking a 1st Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is part of a Looping Model School, meaning the teacher will teach 1st grade for one year and then move to Kindergarten the following year.
Responsibilities
- Create a positive learning environment for students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning skills.
- Maintain a safe environment and establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of individual students through differentiated instruction.
- Use effective teaching techniques and technology to enhance student learning.
- Supervise students indoors and outdoors, including during recess and gym activities.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth and maintain appropriate records.
- Communicate with parents through various means to discuss student progress.
- Participate in faculty meetings and collaborate with other professionals.
- Model professional and ethical standards in interactions with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
- Implement Proficiency-Based Learning and the Granite Way.
Requirements
- Utah Professional Elementary teaching license or an out-of-state Professional Elementary license.
- Must meet or be willing to meet the Utah Science of Reading Requirement (S.B. 241).
- ESL endorsement preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Utah Professional Educator License for the State of Utah.
- Experience in early literacy and proficiency-based learning.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and computer skills.
