About the role

MU Health Care is seeking a Coordinator of Volunteer Services to join their team. This position requires a passionate individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with potential and established volunteers, manage schedules, and create and execute orientation.
  • Manage the vetting process for applicants, complete volunteer onboarding, track compliance with staff health requirements, background checks, training, and other prerequisites for assignment.
  • Create and execute ongoing training sessions as needed.
  • Interact with volunteers and colleagues respectfully, professionally, encouragingly, and collaboratively, maintaining a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Aid volunteers with their day-to-day duties and make necessary adjustments to support the organization's needs.
  • Collaborate with management and department stakeholders to plan and implement training programs needed to develop and maintain the knowledge and skillset for effective support in various specialty areas.
  • Stay updated on regulations affecting volunteers and ensure continuous organizational compliance.
  • Maintain volunteer files for surveyors upon request.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and completing volunteer recognition events.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of office supplies and order supplies as needed.
  • Act as a liaison to the MU Auxiliary and assist with managing programs within Volunteer Services' scope, such as WAGS, VolunTeens, and Ronald McDonald Room.
  • Perform department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, education, communications, public health, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired.
  • One (1) year of experience in volunteer board development, strategic planning, and coordination of special events planning, outreach education, or alumni/volunteer relations.
