Volunteer Services Coordinator

About the role
The Vermont Department Of Corrections seeks a Volunteer Services Coordinator to oversee volunteer programs at Chittenden County Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates volunteer resources.
- Develops policies and procedures for recruiting, orienting, supervising, and supporting volunteers.
- Recruits, interviews, orients, trains, and assigns volunteers.
- Schedules activities, arranges space, and organizes special events.
- Supervises, evaluates, reassigns, and dismisses volunteers.
- Provides ongoing training and counseling to volunteers.
- Serves as liaison with facility staff to identify client needs and interests.
- Coordinates special volunteer recognition events.
- Promotes the use of volunteers within the facility.
- Facilitates volunteer and inmate support groups.
- Participates in facility and community meetings, workshops, seminars.
- Prepares reports and schedules, devises forms, and maintains records.
- May supervise the functions of an institutional library.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years or more of experience at a technical or professional level in social services, community organizations, education, or a related human resource program.
- OR Two years of full-time college coursework OR an associate's degree AND four (4) years or more of experience at a technical or professional level in social services, community organizations, education, or a related human resource program.
- OR High School diploma or equivalent AND six (6) years or more of experience at a technical or professional level in social services, community organizations, education, or a related human resource program.
- Supervisory or coordinating experience preferred.
Qualifications

- Supervisory or coordinating experience preferred.
