About the role

The Transport Assets & Operations Branch plays a vital role in delivering safe, reliable and sustainable transport infrastructure for the Sunshine Coast community. Responsible for the strategic management of roads, structures, roadside assets and stormwater infrastructure, the branch focuses on optimising asset performance, supporting sustainable growth and ensuring financially responsible service delivery. As part of one of Australia's most liveable and rapidly growing regions, the team is helping shape infrastructure outcomes that will benefit the community for generations to come.

As Coordinator Transport Infrastructure Assets, you will lead the strategic management of Council's transport infrastructure assets to optimise lifecycle performance, manage risk, support financial sustainability and deliver strong community outcomes. This influential leadership role combines asset strategy, data-driven decision making, governance and people leadership, providing the opportunity to drive innovation, guide investment priorities and help build a resilient transport network that supports the region's future growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead asset management strategies and whole-of-life planning across roads, structures, roadside assets and stormwater infrastructure.
• Develop long-term renewal programs and investment strategies aligned with risk, service levels and financial sustainability objectives.
• Champion asset systems, data governance, analytics and digital solutions to improve asset performance and decision making.
• Provide strategic leadership to a high-performing team while building strong stakeholder relationships across Council, industry and the community.

About you

• You're an experienced engineering and asset management leader with a relevant degree qualification and extensive expertise in transport infrastructure asset management. Ideally, you're a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or able to obtain registration within 12 months.
• You bring a strong track record in whole-of-life asset management, lifecycle modelling, risk-based decision making and long-term financial planning. You know how to balance cost, risk and service outcomes to maximise value for the community.
• You're a collaborative and influential communicator who excels at building trusted relationships. Whether engaging with executives, technical specialists, contractors, regulators or community stakeholders, you can confidently provide expert advice and drive positive outcomes.
• Most importantly, you're a people-focused leader who develops capability, inspires high performance and fosters a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement and teamwork.
