About the role

You are an essential link between the Risk Management and Patient Relations teams, working to reduce risk, resolve concerns, and provide the safest and most restorative environment for Legacy patients. Your knowledge of healthcare standards of practice and consultative skills, combined with your genuine concern for the well-being of others, help to fulfill the Legacy mission of making life better for others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in identifying, mitigating, and controlling losses related to patient and visitor injury.
  • Maintain compliance with specified regulatory requirements, including mandatory and voluntary patient safety reporting, and control of related charges.
  • Promote patient safety by partnering with clinical personnel in managing adverse outcomes, investigating incidents, and recognizing, investigating, and reporting potentially compensable events.
  • Provide education, support, and consultation to clinical personnel regarding clinical risk management issues and practices.
  • Facilitate root cause analyses and conduct surveillance for and reporting of events in compliance with Legacy Health policy and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Support the investigation of patient grievances and provide real-time risk management consultation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three to five years of experience in healthcare, including behavioral health risk management or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in a clinical role or clinical management preferred.
  • Licensed Health Care Professional preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of healthcare risk management, healthcare standards of practice, Legacy Health policies and procedures, professional and general liability, and liability insurance.
  • Familiarity with specified regulatory requirements for management of grievances and adverse events.
  • Skills in investigation, witness interviewing techniques, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to manage critical situations in a professional, objective, and effective manner.
  • Ability to make independent, real-time decisions within the clinical risk management and patient safety scope of responsibility.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engender trust among internal customers and provide excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently, establish and reevaluate priorities daily, and meet deadlines.
  • Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and ability and willingness to train others about risk management.

Licensure

If Licensed Health Care Professional, applicable state licensure is required.

Pay

USD $49.89 - USD $74.34 per hour.
