About the role
Pivotal role in leading and supporting comprehensive review of the organization’s operational risk register, working closely with stakeholders across multiple departments.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and review the City’s Enterprise Risk Management programs.
- Review and develop risk registers, including controls, mitigations, and residual risk ratings.
- Develop and embed a consistent methodology for assessing and reviewing risk mitigations.
- Partner with the business to ensure alignment with the Enterprise Risk Management framework and best practice standards.
- Provide practical guidance and coaching to stakeholders to strengthen risk awareness and ownership.
- Support continuous improvement of risk processes and documentation across the organization.
- Provide hands-on engagement across the organization to drive outcomes with tight timeframes.
- Assist in the administration of the City’s self-insured property and casualty insurance programs.
- Conduct exposure and coverage analysis.
- Monitor claims, adjustments, and settlements, premium allocation, and loss control.
- Develop and maintain loss and exposure data for all property and identify liability risks.
- Monitor the collection of reimbursements for damages caused by third parties.
- Determine the allocation of insurance for risk exposures.
- Negotiate renewal terms and conditions.
- Monitor the adjustment of liability, subrogation, and property loss issues.
- Analyze and review liability claims involving City employees, equipment, and property.
- Represent the department and provide technical guidance on assigned functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, Public Administration, or a related field, and four (4) years of professional risk management experience, including two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, Public Administration, or a related field, and four (4) years of professional risk management experience, including two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.

- ANNUAL VACATION LEAVE: Employees shall be eligible for vacation allowance as hereinafter set forth.
- SICK LEAVE WITH PAY: Employees shall be entitled to accrue sick leave with pay in accordance with the Rules of the Civil Service Commission.
- ACCIDENT WITH PAY LEAVE: The Amended Section 4.4 of the Ordinance shall become effective upon adoption and shall apply to occupational injuries and occupational diseases occurring on and after date of adoption.
- PRENANCY LEAVE: Pregnancy shall be treated the same as any other temporary physical disability. An employee on pregnancy leave shall use accumulated and unused regular sick leave time and then (unless granted use of special sick leave) shall be on leave without pay, unless the employee chooses to use any accumulated and unused annual leave.
- LEGAL HOLIDAYS: The following days are hereby declared legal holidays for all the City departments, provided that the provisions of this section shall not apply to members of the Fire Department whose duties are to prevent or extinguish fires, or to members of the Police Department whose duties are those of law enforcement.
Pay
$76,593.71 - $95,742.14 Annually
