About the Role
The Center for Sport Leadership at VCU’s School of Business seeks a highly motivated and qualified Director of Student Services and Enrollment to provide support to students, faculty, and staff. This role serves as the first point of contact for prospective students, guiding them through marketing, recruitment, admissions, and graduation. Additionally, the position provides administrative support to the CSL team, ensuring adaptability and a student-focused approach.
Responsibilities
- Admissions & Student Support (50%)
- Coordinates receipt of prospective students’ applications and required documents.
- Communicates with students regarding application status and decisions.
- Distributes application materials to admission committee members.
- Coordinates admissions interviews and decision processing.
- Maintains documentation and files on day-to-day Center activities.
- Prepares orientation packages for incoming classes.
- Manages communication with students throughout the admissions process.
- Ensures graduating students submit graduation applications and necessary paperwork.
- Follows processing procedures with the Office of Graduate Studies and School of Business.
- Works with program management systems, including Slate and Banner.
- Marketing & Recruitment (25%)
- Coordinates recruitment and marketing efforts for full-time, distance learning, and dual-degree programs.
- Collaborates with the Communications Director on marketing strategies and timelines.
- Creates marketing content for the website and social media platforms.
- Hosts program information sessions (online or in-person) throughout the year.
- Course Scheduling and Progress Toward Degree Completion (15%)
- Serves as the first point of contact for course schedule changes within the School of Business.
- Follows up with the School of Business Administration on submitted changes.
- Coordinates with faculty on class schedules, deadlines for course listings, and syllabi collection.
- Provides enrollment services support to all students (on-campus and online) in the Master’s program.
- Checks student registration status before classes start and at add/drop and withdrawal deadlines.
- Monitors all deadline dates for add/drop/withdrawals.
- Processes overrides as necessary.
- Submits each semester’s class schedules.
- Office Administration (10%)
- Greets and serves as the first point of contact for graduate students, parents, alumni, and visitors.
- Answers the Center’s main telephone line and directs calls to appropriate faculty and staff.
- Responds to telephone, email, inquiry forms, and in-person inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Schedules and coordinates the Executive Director’s calendar and monitors their email.
- Provides scheduling support for meetings and events impacting the Center.
- Maintains current and alumni student files; performs routine office duties (filing, photocopying, mail delivery).
- Oversees mail and correspondence to internal offices.
- Supports special events and initiatives for the Center for Sport Leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Professional attitude with a strong commitment to confidentiality in all interactions.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills.
- Considerable administrative experience.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of university organizations and protocols.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Slate and Banner (preferred).
- Pleasant, positive, and enthusiastic service attitude with the ability to learn about the Center and its programs.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and know when to seek assistance.
- Demonstrated experience fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility among diverse faculty, staff, and students, or a commitment to do so.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a university setting with students pursuing higher education degrees.
- Knowledge of university protocols and organization.
- Experience with Canvas and Slate.
Pay
$50,000–$65,000 per year.

Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.
- May require periodic weekend and evening hours.
