About the Role

Under the supervision of the principal, the Coordinator of Development develops and implements strategies to gather resources and carries out development activities to achieve the school's goals. This role ensures goals are adequately articulated, a long-range plan is in place, and oversees fundraising programs. The Coordinator works cooperatively with the principal to foster positive public relations within and outside the school community, manages volunteer efforts for development projects, and coordinates communication with alumni and benefactors.

Responsibilities

  • Strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education; demonstrates knowledge of Catholic philosophy of education; promotes gospel values and Catholic moral teaching; upholds the doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church; provides opportunities for students to prepare for life in today’s Church and society.
  • Carries out established development policies; organizes a public relations program, including writing press releases, serving as media contact, coordinating public relations functions, and publishing a newsletter for alumni and friends.
  • Updates the school website with public relations and alumni information; collaborates with faculty to help them appreciate their role in school development; plans and arranges donor recognition.
  • Researches potential grant opportunities and oversees written grant proposals from faculty, staff, and parent groups.
  • Oversees record keeping, acknowledgements, solicitation reports, and all correspondence related to development and recruitment; maintains accurate computerized financial records of development activities; coordinates fundraising programs with responsible individuals.
  • Works with the principal to develop positive public relations within and outside the school community; supports local parent-teacher groups and the School Advisory Board; builds cooperative relationships with parishes and local Catholic and public high schools.
  • Maintains engagement with the local civic community and fosters school participation when appropriate; stays informed about local enrichment opportunities, referral agencies, fire and police departments, and social services available to the school.
  • Assists in coordinating the work of volunteers for development projects.
  • Oversees alumni relations and the planning of fundraising activities, including anniversary events.
  • Performs any other job-related tasks assigned by the principal.

Requirements

  • Must be a practicing Catholic.
  • Initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle different personalities and emerging situations.
  • Strong judgment in assessing financial planning and program needs; proficiency in communication with both children and adults.
  • Positive attitude in crisis situations; ability to work cooperatively with others and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge and understanding of grant writing, planned giving, and related development activities.
