Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage relevant ops and logistics support staff, including support for long-term individual volunteers.
  • Manage temporary support staff members at the fulfillment centers when related to pantry and event work. This includes assigning tasks to each staff member and providing instructions to ensure they are completed properly.
  • Ensure all volunteer timesheets are correctly completed.
  • Effectively use Pantry Management tools to ensure that the pantry is running smoothly.
  • Create processes and manage communication channels to support Bronx needs and functions with Volunteer and Food Programs Operations.
  • Support pantry operations and site communication.
  • Work with the Volunteer Services team to support engagement projects, new initiatives, and events
  • Working with volunteers, donors, and community groups on events to support the needs of the community.
  • Support sharing the story of our work through media and branding.
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the pantry.
  • Thoroughly manage inventory of the pantry, ensuring it is a fully stocked space with all necessary food and non-food essentials, including office and event supplies.
  • Communicate efficiently with support staff about deliveries and pickups in advance of deliveries.
  • Cook up and warehouse pickups.
  • Oversee deliveries arriving at the Bronx Fulfillment Center and warehouse pickups.
  • Assist with overseeing deliveries arriving at Spitzer Fulfillment Center and warehouse pickups.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • People management experience (required)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to update the team on the progress of independent work functions
  • Experience with donors and community stakeholders
  • Experience with local community groups or willingness to learn about the local landscape
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work on a team with constant collaboration and open communication.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams (or comparable collaboration tools)
  • Knowledge of Salesforce a plus
  • Significant organization skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks
